Horizon Series 2009-2010
When pilgrims in Tibet journey towards their final destination (the temple), they don't simply walk there. They bow to the ground, stand, and raise their hands to the sky as they repeat the sutra over and over again. On this journey they prostrate themselves probably thousands of times. Needless to say it is physically demanding. When I saw this particular woman, she was within 60 meters of the temple. I felt sorry for the suffering she'd put herself through, but I also felt a little jealous of her. She was clearly satisfied with her chosen path.
